Quarterly newsletter – Seeking Submissions

TAS is planning to start a quarterly newsletter aimed at updating the community about important issues, and more importantly providing a platform for the community members to share their literary contributions with others.

In keeping with this intention, TAS is seeking literary contributions for the quarterly newsletter. Members are encouraged to share any articles they pen down (including peoms, stories etc), updates about any important events in their family ( awards/ recognitions for their kids), fun pictures describing relevance, general commentary about anything that matters to them, new fun Andhra Recipes, crossword puzzles, games, or any other traditional art (rangoli etc) ….

Ideas and suggestions are welcome. Do you have a good name in mind for the newsletter? Do share it with us ….. Please send your articles, pictures, recipes, games etc to newsletter@tasnashville.org by October 26, 2009.

Articles can be in Telugu or English. Please keep them short and sweet. We appreciate your understanding that TAS has the final say-so in deciding whether or not to publish submitted material based on content.

Anyone interested in advertising in the newsletter, please call me at 615-301-8656 or email me at sri.movva@gmail.com.

Hi, Every thing is going good. I am very excited for the day.
I have a request for every telugu member of TAS, please pronounce it as ‘Deepavali’ as it is not ‘Diwali’ in telugu.

    Thanks,

4-6 Year old Kids – Diwali Fancy Dress

fancy_dressFor parents with kids 4-6 years old, TAS is planning a fancy dress (to ensure this age group gets to participate during Diwali celebrations) – Kids can dress up like any Gods or Goddesses and recite a sloka (max 4 lines). Entry is limited to 15 kids on a first-come, first-serve basis. Diwali celebrations are scheduled for Nov 14.

Please send in names of interested kids to Kala Vuppalapati at kala_raju@yahoo.com or to Girish Rachakonda at rgirish19@gmail.com.

It is a very good idea. Earlier any kid or adult can go on to the stage with a nice dress but it will look cute if only little kids wear fancy dresses. The best part here is to recite a slokam, for this atleast children are encouraged to learn slokams and this inturn helps to know more about Indian Mythology.
